With the integration of Biodex Medical Systems^Datico® is expanding its platform with one of the world’s most established solutions in the field of isokinetic force diagnostics. Despite the lack of standardized interfaces, a powerful connection was implemented that not only makes it possible to integrate Biodex data, but also to fully process and re-evaluate it.

Biodex is a US manufacturer of high-precision systems for strength and functional diagnostics. The solutions are used in particular in rehabilitation, neurology, orthopaedics and sports medicine. The focus is on detailed measurement data – especially force-time curves – which form an essential basis for diagnostics and therapy evaluation.

Challenge:
Limited access to critical data

In practical use, however, there is a central limitation: Biodex does not offer an open interface for external systems. At the same time, the options for further processing the data in the standard system are limited, especially when it comes to accessing raw data.

After the measurement, exported XML data can be transferred to the ^Datico® LIFE HUB in a structured manner. There, not only is the data merged with other information, but above all the raw data – especially the force-time curves – is processed in a targeted manner.

A key added value lies in the ability to analyze and interpret this data in new ways. Datico® itself thus becomes an active analysis and processing system.

Precision through in-house calibration and extended evaluation

A crucial aspect of integration is the ability to precisely calibrate the measurement data. For example, lever arm weights can be subtracted to more accurately reflect the actual force output – an important factor in neurology in particular.

This provides a basis for significantly more differentiated evaluations. Force-time curves can be displayed graphically, measured values can be analyzed in tabular form and results can be evaluated in context. In addition, the comparison with stored reference values enables an objective classification of performance.
