New best time at the 2026 Boston Marathon

Gregor Gretz finishes the Boston Marathon 2026 in a personal best time – 2:52:42

Gregor Gretz, CTO and Head of Software Development at Datico®, continues his impressive series of marathons with another sporting milestone: at this year’s Boston Marathon 2026, he finished in 2:52:42 hours – setting a new personal best.

A special run on a historic route

The Boston Marathon is one of the most traditional and challenging marathons in the world. The course is known for its challenging profile – especially due to the notorious climbs around Heartbreak Hill.

It is all the more remarkable to run a personal best under these conditions. This is exactly what Gregor managed to do this year – with a race that was characterized by consistency, race organization and mental strength right from the start.

The road to Boston – consistent and structured

Taking part in the Boston Marathon is not a matter of course. Gregor qualified for the World Marathon Majors at the Prague Marathonwhere he achieved the required qualifying time – and thus began his dream of completing all major marathon events worldwide.

This was followed by a continuous development over further major races:

  • Berlin Marathon
  • Chicago Marathon
  • Boston Marathon 2026 – personal best time (2:52:42)

This is progress in action – not only in terms of results, but also in the approach to training and competition.

Performance through structure and continuity

What is reflected in the results is no coincidence. Gregor’s development is the result of a consistent training process that has been continuously refined over a long period of time.

The focus is on:

  • a clean training periodization
  • the continuous evaluation of performance data
  • and the targeted adaptation of stress and regeneration

This structured approach forms the basis for sustainable performance improvement – in competitive sport as well as in many other data-driven areas.

More than a single success

With his successful finish in Boston, Gregor once again underlines the fact that long-term development, discipline and a clear methodical approach are decisive factors for sporting success.

For him personally, the new best time is a further step on his way through the major international marathons – and at the same time a strong example of what is possible through consistent implementation and continuous development.

Gregor Gretz:

“The Boston Marathon was an incredibly impressive event
.

To feel the 130-year-old tradition throughout the city and to start in the first wave was the absolute crowning glory for the hard training of the last few months.

What I will remember in particular is the incredible support of the spectators along the route – especially the legendary Wellesley College “Scream Tunnel”.

This experience shows me what is possible with motivation and perseverance.

If you get the chance to run this marathon, you should definitely do it!
